Reflecting on the 14-15 school year

This year was my first involved with blogging. I didn't know much about it, only having heard the term be thrown around in internet lingo. I came to realize blogging means many different things and that quite a few of the websites I visit on a daily basis are, in fact, blogs. I'd considered starting a blog of my own, but never knew how to do it. Does it cost money? Do I need a membership? Not knowing the answer to these questions prevented me from experiencing the world of blogging.

I will be attending Syracuse University in the fall, one of the nation's best, if not the best, school for journalism and public communications. Considering blogging plays a vital role in today's journalism industry, I would say having the background I attained this year will only serve to help and differentiate myself. Whether it be posting on a blog of my own, or contributing to a big-name corporation's blog, I can utilize the skills I learned in AP Spanish Literature and the library with Ms. Lofton. I think I'll most definitely continue blogging in my future. I love to write and share my thoughts with others; blogging is the perfect way to accomplish both. I consider myself fortunate because not everyone has the opportunity to speak their mind on a digital platform. It truly is amazing what today's technology can offer.

Last year I was entirely new to blogging. I didn't know the ins and outs or if there was a format I needed to follow, or even how to post. However, under the instruction of Ms. Lofton and Ms. Rossell, I gradually learned how to write my own blog, post it, and add a copyright friendly image to enhance the view of my blog for any readers. I've now grown quite comfortable with blogging and can do so at any time without instruction. Whenever I encounter a problem inside or outside of the classroom, I like to write about it. Removing your thoughts from your head and placing them on paper or typing them out is a great way to begin the process of problem-solving, as it serves to organize thought.

I've become a fairly proficient blogger, even to the point where I've revisited my old posts and revised them to make them the best quality they can possibly be. Although I'm not exactly sure what design fits me best, I think that will come to me in time. As of right now, I have a generic design that I think can appeal to most any viewer. Thank you to Ms. Rossell and Ms. Lofton for helping me start my own blog, write about my own thoughts, and launch me into the online world of blogging!
